Local context

Our work in West Dublin

The industrial estates and distribution parks of West Dublin contain a high concentration of large-span shutters, rapid roll doors, sectional doors and loading bay equipment. These are high-cycle assets where downtime affects an entire operation rather than a single opening.

Because so many of these sites run multiple doors and bays, they are also the sites that benefit most from a scheduled maintenance arrangement rather than reactive call-outs alone.

  • Distribution and logistics units

Multiple bays, dock levellers, shelters and rapid doors — usually with a critical dispatch window.

  • Production facilities

Doors providing separation between process areas, where hygiene and temperature control matter.

  • Forklift impact damage

Guide and curtain damage from handling equipment, plus advice on impact protection to stop it recurring.

  • Multi-door maintenance

Sites with ten or more powered openings covered on a single asset register and schedule.

How the service works

What happens when you call from this area

  1. 01

    Call and describe the fault

Phone Access Opening Solutions on 01 877 5206 and tell us what the shutter is doing — stuck open, jammed closed, noisy or unresponsive — along with the site address and access details.

  2. 02

We assess urgency and gather information

The team establishes whether the premises are insecure, whether anyone is at risk and what shutter type, size and controls are involved, so the engineer arrives prepared.

  3. 03

An engineer attends and makes the area safe

On site we identify the cause, isolate power where appropriate, secure or support the curtain and confirm whether the door can be safely operated.

  4. 04

    Repaired where possible

Most faults are repaired on the visit. Where parts must be ordered or a section replaced, we explain what is required and recommend further work or replacement only where it is genuinely needed.

Useful emergency advice

What should you do when a roller shutter fails?

A failed shutter is a security, safety and trading problem at the same time. These steps protect your people and usually reduce the cost of the repair. They are deliberately not DIY repair instructions — shutter mechanisms should only be worked on by trained engineers.

  • Do not repeatedly force the controls. Continuing to press up and down on a jammed shutter can strip gears, snap chains or burn out a motor, turning a modest repair into a major one.
  • Keep staff and customers away from an unstable shutter. Cordon off the opening if the curtain is out of its guides, sagging or partially dropped.
  • Do not attempt to realign or dismantle a heavy shutter yourself. Curtains, barrels and springs hold significant weight and stored energy.
  • Isolate the power only if it is safe to do so, using the local isolator or key switch — never by pulling at damaged cabling.
  • Tell the engineer whether the shutter is stuck open, closed or partially open. That single detail changes how urgently we treat the call and what we bring.
  • Mention any unusual noises, recent impact damage or motor behaviour, including burning smells, grinding or a motor that runs without moving the curtain.
  • Send photographs where possible, including the full opening, the motor or control box and any visible damage, so the team can assess what may be required before arrival.
